Can't be the only one who thinks this superbloom stuff is overrated, even as a seasoned hiker/nature lover. Always seemed underwhelming to me. Plus the amount of pollen in the air... I went to one when I was a kid and my god my eyes were red for days.
Anyways, traffic isn't bad behavior. I mean, you go there, you didn't realize how many other people had the same idea, you try to leave, but then you clog up the lanes inadvertently. What are you actually supposed to do there.
The helicopter incident though... that's just something else.
It is one of those things that a huge number of people hear about and want to see at least once and they do it at the detriment to those that live in the area. All the people hopping on the bandwagon never consider the effect they have on the lives of the locals. Traffic is a minor thing but when it comes to these natural events which can just happen unexpectedly and cause large numbers of people to show up without notice it can mean the locals don't get to do their grocery shopping this week because shelves got cleaned out by tourists, gas stations have run dry, etc and chances are those shelves are not going to get restocked or those tanks refilled until when ever the next scheduled delivery is because that is how life is outside the major metros.
So now they will just start closing stuff down when there is even a risk of one of these natural events occurring, can't say I am sorry.
I wish they would close it down only for non-locals. Must really suck if you've lived in the area all your life, enjoyed the local scenery such as this for years without issue, and now that's taken away from you.
