Meta Plans to Take a Nearly 50% Commission on Purchases Made Inside Metaverse (macrumors.com)

>A Meta spokesperson confirmed to CNBC Wednesday that Meta will take an overall cut of up to 47.5% on each transaction. That includes a “hardware platform fee” of 30% for sales made through the Meta Quest Store, where it sells apps and games for its virtual reality headsets. On top of that, Horizon Worlds, will charge a 17.5% fee.

I don't know how anyone would be able to turn a profit paying those fees.

What's being sold is NFTs so it's all just made up anyway. Keeping 50% of the money you make selling a low quality meme picture still leaves you with a healthy profit vs the zero you put in.

NFTs don't even seem to have the staying power of 80's hair or beanie babies... in a few more years it will all be dust. And fb investors will get 47% of squat.

If you think that's bad, developers on Roblux only get to keep ~30%
