I think this is tinfoil hat free territory. Barr has been public about his feelings on encryption and this proposed law (unless it's been changed in the last month) specifically gives the attorney general effective carte blanche authority over how it's implemented and interpreted.

I hear what you're saying, but I live in the EU, where at least we have some more protections by way of privacy. (Not perfect by any means)
To speak to your point on Barr, and I'll try to be neutral here, his motivations might very well be positive to protect the US people but the method is really panning out to be damaging long term.
